Creative Faith | Art in Scripture

Creativity has played a large role in my faith journey. From dancing, to singing, song writing, poetry, drawing and painting; The Father has shown me these are all forms of praising and can be quite powerful in His hands! One of my current works is this lion oil painting," Eyes of Fire". Each layer of paint holds a unique significance, adding depth and meaning. The layers of a painting can be prophetic!
Understanding the Layers
We know paintings are not just random strokes of color on a canvas. There is care in building layers to create a visual story. The first layer, known as the underpainting, sets the foundation for the artwork. Subsequent layers add texture, depth, and emotion to the piece. Each layer is a deliberate choice, contributing to the overall message of the painting.
The Prophetic Nature of Paintings
I believe that paintings can be prophetic, offering insights into the future or conveying hidden messages. The layers of a painting can hold clues and symbols that reveal deeper truths. As you study a painting, pay attention to the details in each layer. You may uncover a message that speaks to your soul or offers guidance for your journey. And of course, add prayer for understanding.
Creativity and Faith
Creativity is a powerful tool for self-expression and cultivating a relationship with The Most High. Engaging in creative activities, such as painting, can deepen your faith journey. As you create art, you can tap into a divine source of inspiration, allowing your thoughts and emotions to manifest on the canvas. Embrace creativity as a way to connect with your spirituality.
Next time you admire a painting, take a moment to consider the layers beneath the surface. Each brushstroke, each color choice, and each texture has a purpose. The layers of a painting are not just aesthetic elements; they can be meaningful components that can enrich your understanding of a piece of art.
Art in Scripture
I like finding art in scripture! One of my favorites is Exodus 35:10-35 and Exodus 36 1-5. I'll summarize but if you are interested in the subject you will enjoy reading it and keep on going! "All who are gifted artisans among you shall come and make all the Lord has commanded..." NKJV. He commanded the artisans! (Fellow creatives, be prayerful in this. To truly make prophetic art, we must hear Him or we could fall into having our own ideas that could be beautiful but powerless for His purposes.) "See the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works..." Exodus 35:30-32 NKJV. He was chosen not only for his ability but because he humbled himself receive wisdom and understanding. That's the powerful part! Oh, that you would have eyes to see! Prayerfully create! Blessings!
